LEONARDO DICAPRIO
He was born in Hollywood on
November 11th, 1974.Leonardo was an only child whose parents divorced when he
was a baby. At the age of five,Leonardo made his debut on a popular children’s television show before
being removed for being too disruptive. When he was 14 he signed to an agency and popped-up in a Matchbox cars
commercial before landing acting roles in a few short-lived TV shows, most
notably ‘Parenthood’ where he met Tobey Maguire and nominated for the ‘Young
Artist Award for Best Young Actor.’
DiCaprio made his movie
debut in 1991 with direct-to-video horror ‘Critters 3’ which indirectly led to
a regular role in TV’s ‘Growing Pains’.
In1996, DiCaprio starred in
Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of ‘Romeo and Juliet’. Notable for retaining the
‘original’ Shakespearean dialogue the movie was a huge hit but financially
eclipsed by 1997 blockbuster ‘Titanic’ which was, until 2010, the highest
grossing film ever made.
In 2013 he worked again with
Baz Lurhrmann for a big-screen adaptation of ‘The Great Gatsby. That year he
also starred in another Scorsese picture, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, based on
the life of a stockbroker who was arrested in the late 1990’s for fraud.
Another Golden Globe to add to his collection, a fourth Academy Award
nomination. In January 2013 he announced he was going to take break from acting
and ‘fly around the world doing good for the environment.
JULIA ROBERTS
Julia Roberts was born on October
28, 1967 in Smyrna, Georgia.She has English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, German, and
Swedish offspring. She wanted to be
a veterinarian .She also played the clarinet in her school band.
After graduating from Smyrna's Campbell High School, she attended Georgia State
University, but did not graduate. She later headed to New York to pursue a
career in acting. Once there, she signed with the Click Modeling Agency and
enrolled in acting classes.
In New York, she also
joined the family business, landing a guest appearance on the television series
Crime Story (1986-88).The following year, Roberts cemented her status as a
rising star in Steel Magnolias (1989) and earning an Academy Award nomination
for best supporting actress.
Roberts became known to
worldwide audiences when she starred with Richard Gere in ‘Pretty Woman’(1990). The role also earned her a second Oscar
nomination, this time as Best Actress, and second Golden Globe Award win, as
Motion Picture Best Actress (Musical or Comedy). She followed up that role with a few career missteps: Dying Young (1991)
received mixed reviews, as did Hook (1991), which revisited the story of Peter
Pan.
Roberts and her husband, Daniel Moder, met on the set of her film The Mexican in 2000. Together, they have three children: twins
Hazel Patricia and Phinnaeus Walter Moder and son, Henry Daniel Moder.
